How to successfully communicate with multilingual content?
THE CHALLENGE
Zespri is a co-operative of growers providing fresh, full-flavored, nutritious kiwifruit.
Based on the style guides and content brief already created by the client's general market advertising agency, I was responsible for designing newspaper ads and other marketing materials translated into Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese to target Asian consumers in the U.S. The challenge is to successfully communicate multi-languages in one space and effectively deliver the information.
THE SOLUTION
Translated content can help build trust and put the company ahead of the competition. When using different languages, it is vital to keep the design as part of the branding and make the elements look consistent. I searched for suitable typefaces that look close to the English version. Giving a good hierarchy among languages and using fewer design elements helped better legibility.
